The Franklin Amateur Radio Club

Franklin, North Carolina

The Franklin Amateur Radio Club has been around since the early 70s and has been an ARRL accredited club since November 1972. The club call sign, K2BHQ, was requested to honor Jack Coriell (SK) who was very active in the club for many years. His wife, Kay KB4USN, is still an active member.

The club maintains the 145.49 repeater located on Cowee Bald (about 5000' MSL) just north of Franklin. We have an ARES net on Sunday evenings at 8:00 local on the repeater. There is also a 75m net on the first Sunday of the month. This net meets at 8:30 pm on 3.,923 mHz LSB +- QSY as/if needed.

The repeater has EchoLink access through K2BHQ-R, node 400632. We also have a weather alert radio connected to the Kenwood TKR-750 repeater and AR-210 controller.

The club was incorporated in February, 2010.
